5-Minute Jeera Rice for Busy Weeknights

Not every kitchen story needs a grandmother in it — sometimes it's just a Tuesday, leftover rice in the fridge, and fifteen minutes before you need to be somewhere else.
The five-minute method
Heat a spoon of ghee till it shimmers. Drop in a teaspoon of whole jeera and let it crackle for two to three seconds — no more, or it turns bitter. Toss in your cold rice straight from the fridge, breaking up any clumps with the back of your spoon.
A pinch of salt, a squeeze of lemon if you have one, and you're done. The whole point of whole jeera here is that it wakes up in the hot ghee instantly — no waiting, no simmering, just crackle and go.
Whole spices aren't just for weekend cooking. They're what makes a five-minute dinner taste like you tried.
We'll be sharing more quick, weeknight-friendly ways to use your spice box right here on the blog.
