Are Spices only for those who Cook?

For years, I ignored the spice aisle—not because I disliked spices, but because I thought they belonged to people who actually enjoyed cooking.
Most of my life, I assumed spices were for people who loved spending time in the kitchen. Since cooking has never been something so vital to me, spices simply weren't part of my world.
Whenever I heard people talking about spices, the conversation usually centred around recipes or dishes they were preparing. I rarely paid much attention because, to me, it all seemed irrelevant. More often than not, I found myself receiving unsolicited cooking advice, which wasn't particularly helpful for someone who had no interest in cooking.
But over time, I discovered there was another side to spices—one that had nothing to do with preparing elaborate meals.
Beyond adding flavour to food, many spices have been treasured for centuries for their role in supporting overall wellness. Whether it's cinnamon, which has been studied for its potential to support healthy blood sugar levels, or a comforting blend of turmeric, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, star anise, and cardamom stirred into a warm cup of golden milk, spices can easily become part of a daily wellness routine.
That's when I realised something important: you don't have to be a cook to benefit from spices.
If you've ever felt that spices aren't for you because you don't enjoy cooking, think again. You don't have to endure unsolicited advice or feel left out of conversations about herbs and spices simply because the kitchen isn't your favourite place.
Now I've started exploring spices from a different perspective- simple ways to incorporate them into a wellness routine, easy recipes like golden milk, and practical tips that don't require one to become a passionate home cook.
Because spices aren't just ingredients for recipes—they're simple, everyday tools that can support a healthier lifestyle. Maybe this is the start of my kitchen journey.
Have you ever avoided using spices because you thought they were only for cooking? I'd love to hear your experience.
